Winter Parking
Permit Sales and Citation Payments Information
Parking Permit Sales for the 2009-2010 season will start
on November 1, 2009.
The police department
WILL NOT BE OPEN for sale of winter parking permits, or
payment of citation, during weekend hours.
Residents are
encouraged to PLAN AHEAD prior to the beginning of winter
parking permit season which begins December 1, 2009.
There are several months of this season that begin on a
weekend, therefore, residents will have to plan ahead and
purchase their monthly permits prior to the end of the
month. Permits can also be purchased for the entire
season which will save some money and several trips to
the Police Department to purchase monthly permits.
Permit sale are available
Monday - Friday from 7 AM - 8 PM. Citation payments may also
be made during these hours.
The Police Department will
also be CLOSED for Permit sales and Citation payments on the
following holidays: Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 31, 2009 and Jan. 1,
2010.

WINTER PARKING
RESTRICTIONS
During the period from
December 1st to March 31st, no person shall park a vehicle
on any street in the City of South Milwaukee between the
hours of 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
However, vehicles may
be parked during such hours if a permit is obtained from the
Police Department after the filing of an application and the
payment of $20.00 per month permit fee, $17.00 if obtained
after the 15th of the month, or $65.00 for a 4-month permit.
Any vehicle parked
according to (1) or (2) above shall only be permitted to
park on the EVEN numbered side of the street on those nights
whose calendar date before midnight is even (N and W sides
of the street are even), *Where parking is normally permitted
only on one side of the street this section (3) shall apply.
SNOW EMERGENCY DECLARED
The Mayor, if after
consulting with the Street Dept., finds that due to snow,
sleet, or freezing rain, the street must be plowed or
salted, may declare a SNOW EMERGENCY, which will prohibit
parking on any or the Arterial Streets as names in Section
28.12 of the Municipal Code. Whenever such an
emergency is declared, which will be announced on at least
(3) radio stations (WTMJ, WISN, WOKY), it shall be unlawful
to park any vehicle between the hours of 2:00AM and 6:00AM
inclusive, on any of the Arterial Streets as mentioned
above.
